Themeparkfanatic's video: Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens

@Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens
This is the only coaster that made the move from Elitch Gardens original location. It is also one of the two remaining Shuttle Loop coasters from Arrow Dynamics that are still operating in the US. The only other one in the US is the Diamondback at Frontier City in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There actually are three of these worldwide with the Revolution at England's Plackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, Lancashire being the only one outside the US. This one actually operated as the Roaring Tornado at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls in Hot Springs, Arkansas from 1980 to 1989. It was then moved to Elitch Garden's original location and operated there as Sidewinder from 1990 to 1994. It then moved with the park to its current location in 1995 where it still operates to this day. A shuttle loop coaster is a roller coaster that doesn't make a complete circuit like most major roller coasters do so it can fit in a small space. It will start out at a point, go to the end of the track, and then return the same way it came. Sidewinder is 635 feet long, has one inversion, 2 47 foot drops, a top speed of 45 mph, and a total ride time of about 1 min 6 seconds. This coaster does take a longer than normal time to load and unload because the ride operators have to release and secure the restraints one car at a time.
