Michael Shannon plays Kim Fowley, a flamboyant, aggressive rock music producer in "The Runaways", the true-life story of the formation of an all-girl rock band in 1975. Fowley meets Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart), who convinces him to help her put together a hard-rocking band of teenage girls. They recruit Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) to sing lead vocals and hit the road to make a name for themselves, along the way earning both fame and notoriety. The 2010 movie was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who has helmed a variety of music videos for David Bowie, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Marilyn Manson, Christina Aguilera and Sheryl Crowe among many others.
