Some food for thought on how the Internet is regularly coopted as an instrument of social engineering. The Internet is one of the greatest creations of the modern age. It allows for the democratization of knowledge and communication, to the point where it now becomes technically possible for anyone in the world to access any work that's ever been created, and to communicate and exchange ideas with anyone else on the planet, even to the farthest reaches of the globe. Yet, the forces of control and obscurantism, who over the last two decades have grown increasingly terrified of the Internet and of its enlightening and liberating potential, are doing their best to coopt, corporatize, censor, and control it, so as to nip the flower in the bud. An essential part in all this is to use it for social engineering purposes, and this is typical oligarchical formula – coopt the medicine, turn it into a poison.
