The idea that the world is a space of finite resources, and that human progress and development are to be constrained by scarcity in any one type of resources, is pseudoscientific at best. This is actually a world where you can create and develop your way out of resource scarcity, and that's how we evolved from cave dwelling to the space age – by constantly coming up with new means, technologies and resources whenever those were in demand. A resource is just a means by which to achieve or produce something of value. Whenever there is scarcity in any one type of resource, Man has the ability to create, discover or develop other types of resources, technologies and avenues of development. In the past, people lacked a means to heat themselves and prepare food, so they harnessed fire. Nowadays, you lack, let's say oil, so you develop fusion power, and then you go into even more advanced technological applications. This is how Humanity will fulfill her fate of colonizing the stars and expanding over the Universe. Humans are endowed with the most valuable of all resources, and that is Reason: giving Man the power of creative rational thinking and, therefore, the ability to realize progress and development – the ability to continuously transform and improve the world for all, so as to reach for ever higher pinacles of achievement. This, in fact, is the true meaning of the idea of Man made in the image of the Creator – Homo imago Dei, the essential idea driving the Renaissance – Man is endowed with divine Reason, enabling him to be a creator himself. As long as Man sets himself to it, life and the human condition can be continuously improved, and human civilization can be made ever better and more advanced, and it can be made to work for the average man and woman – and not the other way around.
