DADGAD tuning is an alternate tuning for guitar that can be used on any six string instrument with the following string/tuning order: 6th string D 5th string A 4th string D 3rd string G 2nd string A 1st string D As you can see DADGAGD Tuning is a modal tuning that implies a Dsus4 sonority. It is well suited for major keys, specially A - G and D of course. As a subset of the Standard Tuning for the guitar, DADGAD Tuning requires to drop the 6th, 2nd and 1st strings one tone. The result is an open and low sounding sonority that is ideal for Celtic music, new age, dark rock, country blues and meditational music.
