Bob Kinoshita was the designer of the Lost in Space (also called "B9", GUNTER", "Robot") and Robby the Robot two of the most well known TV robots in modern history. In 2009 on his 25th birthday I was honored to have dinner and birthday cake with him and several other fans. In the background you will notice a B9 robot. I build it with a friend in 2008, using a set of his plans dated 1963. He was a wonderful gentleman, easy to talk to and always eager to talk about his many television and movie prop and costume designs. Yes, both robots were in fact cotumes with men inside.
