@Kohler 12K watt generator Surge and Backfire FIXED!

This Kohler 12,000 watt gererator (12RES) was made in 2008 and has only 380 hours on it. It was surging which caused the power to roll or go up and down with the rpm of the motor. It looked like a disco strobe light inside the house. It was also popping and backfiring which sounded like gun shots to the neighbor. The carburetor bolts were extremely loose and causing air to be sucked in. After tightening the bolts, the surging and pulsing stopped and it runs even and smooth. Hope this helps anyone having those same issues!
