Tim's video: Brembo Motorcycle Brake Calipers Explained

@Brembo Motorcycle Brake Calipers Explained
After my last track day, my front braking system faded and I was still getting a vibration from the front wheel. I decided to upgrade the Nissin Master Cyclinder to the Brembo 19RCS Master Cyclinder. Also, at the same time I rebuilt and serviced the front brake calipers. During this process I learnt a lot about how the calipers actually work, this video explains my learnings. These calipers found on the Suzuki GSX-R600, 750 and 1000 from 2011 onwards are cast monoblocks, with partial brake fluid channels and are very similar to the M4 and GP4-RS caliper versions Brembo sell. High end bembo calipers are machined from a single piece of billet alloy. These calipers are race specific and are very expensive, over $2500 per caliper. Normal road calipers have two seals per piston, a piston seal and a dust seal. Race calipers only have the piston seal. This means race calipers need servicing every 2000 to 3000kms. Only the Brembo MotoGP calipers, the Trex come with a full fluid circuit for fast and easy bleeding. With the Suzuki version, because the fluid channels are at the top of the caliper, it relies on air raising to the top of the caliper to be bleed out, which takes time.
