Videos explains how to save the rear defroster when Removing Window Tint off of the Rear Window of a Car when steaming and bagging has failed. TintManFL.com
(1) Go ahead and pull the first layer off. The film is bubbling off of its self not the glass. So it should pull right off leaving the 2nd brittle layer on the window.
(2) Tint the whole window on top of the old tint.
(3) Have the customer come back after the film cures.
(4) Soak the inside of the window with Simple Green while your flat black garbage bag is covering the rear deck.
(5) Have the sun directly on the middle of the rear window until it reaches at least 120°F
(6) Pull the film slowly with the bag and the new film will grab the old film.
(7) Immediately soak the rear window with Simple Green and scrub the leftover adhesive with 0000 Steel wool. Then clean it with 50/50 rubbing alcohol & water. Now you have a nice clean window ready for fresh tint!
(8) If this is out of your league call us to schedule an appointment. It's usually $150 to remove window film from the rear window. *not guaranteed that we can save the rear defroster, but it's very rare that we can't.
