And while Coco Martin lives a life decidedly different from the character he's best known for, the actor did not hold back in lamenting against the injustices he saw as ABS-CBN was forced to shut down on Tuesday, May 5. The actor, in a series of posts, criticized both the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida hours after ABS-CBN went off-air to comply with the NTC's cease and desist order. "Tutal wala naman kasiguraduhan kung buhay pa ako pagkatapos ng pandemic na ito. Tama lang na masabi ko ang mga saloobin ko. Sa mga taong pilit nagsulong sa pagpapasara sa ABS-CBN, sana ay panatag na panatag na ang kalooban niyo. Sana nagdala ito ng lubos na kaligayahan sa mga puso ninyo," said Martin, one of the network's biggest stars. The NTC's decision was such despite the justice department and Congress earlier saying ABS-CBN could continue to operate provisionally even without a legislative franchise. It also comes after Solicitor General Jose Calida warned the commission against issuing ABS-CBN provisional authority. In a series of posts on Instagram, Martin lambasted the "heartless" people behind the decision. "Anong klaseng mga tao ang gumawa nito? Alam ninyo na ang ibig sabihin ng pagkasara ng ABS-CBN ay kawalan ng trabaho ng ilang libong empleyado kasama ang mga pamilya nito. Ilang libong pamilya ang magugutom sa kabila nang lahat ng nangyayari sa mundo ngayon. Talaga bang nagawa niyong unahin ang pagpapasara ng isang istasyon na bumubuhay sa napakaraming Pilipino?" he said.
