Don't spend a lot of money on a camera until you've filmed a few videos and figured out whether this is a hobby that you really want to pursue. My main camera is a Canon 5D Mk III with the 24-70 F/2.8 lens. No you don't need a camera this high end to film some amazing videos and you don't even need to get a DSLR.
