Toby G's video: Toby Trains 001 - What is a Calorie

@Toby Trains 001 - What is a Calorie?
What exactly is a Calorie? Why is it so important when trying to lose or gain weight? In this video I discuss the very basics of Calories and how your daily caloric intake, combined with your daily burn rate affect determines whether you will gain weight or lose weight. The average adult male burns around 2000 - 2400 Cal / day. The average adult female burns around 1600 - 2000 Cal / day. These are just averages and are meant to be used as guidelines only. The amount of calories you burn each day tends to vary based on a number of different factors like your age, weight, activity level, metabolism rate, etc. However, the basic rule with Calories is very simple: If you consume more calories than you burn: you will gain weight! If you burn more calories than you consume: you will lose weight! Whether you lose and/or gain muscle or fat depends on a lot of other factors that I will discuss later in this series - so stay tuned!
