Spawning high altitude mountain brook trout fishing. On this fishing trip I caught some of the most beautiful brook trout I have ever seen and seen some of the most beautiful fall colors around. This is part 2 of 2 the trout fishing part. If you have not seen part 1 and want to see the beautiful fall colors hike up click here: https://youtu.be/WABKxgUagWA This area is inside the Twin Peaks Wilderness up Big Cottonwood Canyon not far from Salt Lake City Utah. In fact on the hike you can actually see the Salt Lake Valley as well as the Great Salt Lake which is as much as 5 times saltier then the ocean. I made this trip in the hopes of catching some arctic greyling and some Bonneville cutthroat trout and while I did not catch them I did catch some beautiful brook trout with beautiful colors as it is there spawning time. This trip actually allows you to hit three high altitude alpine lakes at almost 9000 feet. Lake Blanche is the first lake, Lake Florence is the second and Lake Lillian is the third. All three lakes are fed by the Mill B South Fork creek which starts towards the top of Mount Superior which reaches 11,000 feet. I made this a full day hike and after the initial hike up which took around three hours I spent a good six hours fishing and caught literally dozens of fish. What is really awesome about fishing at high altitudes is that most of the time you are the only fisherman and have your run of the lakes and streams. If you have never had the opportunity to fish high altitude lakes the experience is breath taking and one that you will never forget.
