When I was building my businesses, I had a clear sense of direction. Each day I woke up with a strong purpose. My purpose that day was to increase my revenue & profit for my business. Nothing else really mattered. After I sold the business, that purpose was gone. I didn’t really have a clear sense of direction anymore. I’m still battling with this day in and day out. You see, if you are like me, you have a lot of energy inside of you. Being driven can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing because we can set out to achieve anything we want. It’s a curse because we become so obsessed with that one goal, neglecting a lot of other things in life until it is too late. An exercise that I recently heard that gave me a lot of clarity is: write down where you want to be in 5 years, then each day, complete just 1 task that moves you closer to that goal. I’ve never been into journaling, but now I’m going to give it a try. I’m not here to tell you guys I got everything figured out. I don’t. Some days I’m still quite lost. But this is a good reminder for you and I that we are all trying to figure out this thing called life. It’s our first time at bat, and it will also be the last. We are all just trying to figure it out!
