@The 7 Most Spacious Family Sedans That'll Fit Your Whole Crew
2023 Honda Accord. Shoppers may be flocking to SUVs as family haulers, but that doesn't mean traditional midsize family sedans have lost their relevance. Sedans might not have the elevated ride height or cargo capacity of an SUV, but they typically make up for it with a lower purchase price, better fuel economy, and improved handling. Honda's Accord has dominated this class for decades, and this year marks the arrival of a new generation. The 2023 Honda Accord has been completely redesigned with fresh styling inside and out, new features, and the choice of a conventional gas or a hybrid powertrain. 2023 Toyota Crown. It has been 50 years since Toyota last sold its Crown sedan in the U.S., but the model was introduced in Japan in 1955 as the Toyopet Crown. It has been Toyota's mainstream sedan there ever since, the choice of families, executives, taxi drivers, and police. 2024 Acura Integra. Positives. Sleek exterior design. Class-leading rear-seat and cargo space. Offers the only six-speed manual transmission in its class. Considerations. Similar package and performance as more affordable Honda Civic models. Not as quick as some rivals. No all-wheel-drive option. 2024 BMW 7 Series. Like its competitors, BMW has long used its 7 Series flagship luxury sedan to highlight engineering triumphs that eventually end up in more affordable models. Fresh off a redesign last year, the 2024 BMW 7 Series isn't heralding great developmental leaps, but this year's model is pushing deeper into electric power and updating its in-car tech interface. Top-shelf leather and interior trim reflect the BMW's near six-figure price, while supremely comfortable seats and an expansive cabin guarantee long-haul comfort. 2023 Honda Civic. One of the most popular cars in the U.S., the Honda Civic delivers economy, reliability, comfort, and safety among its many virtues. But the "secret sauce" that separates it from most other compact cars is that it provides more driving enjoyment than basic low-cost transportation. That fun-to-drive character is exemplified this year by a new Type R variant. The good news, though, is you don't have to buy the Type R to get a high level of entertainment. The Honda Civic has been one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for decades, and it underwent a very successful makeover for the 2022 model year. Among its many honors, it was named North American Car of the Year. Now a hot Type R model has joined the lineup, adding to its appeal. 2023 Subaru WRX. There was a time when Subaru was known more for its rally racing program and sporty sedans than its outdoorsy wagons and SUVs. Now that we've confirmed Subaru's legendary WRX STI model will not return to the lineup, the 2023 WRX is the last performance car from Subaru. With 271 horsepower, along with standard all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension, this compact sport sedan is wildly fun to drive on a challenging mountain pass. It's also comfortable enough for the daily commute, giving it broad appeal. The 2023 Subaru WRX delivers a lot of performance for the price and remains the value leader among its rivals. The GR Corolla costs an additional $6,000 or so, while the Civic Type R and Golf R are approximately $13,000 more. You will likely pay more at the pump for the WRX, as it is estimated to return only 22 mpg in combined city/highway miles, but then again its sporty competitors aren't much more efficient. In the end, the Subaru WRX is a great choice for drivers seeking thrills on a budget. 2023 BMW i7. # # # The BMW i7 is an all-electric full-sized sedan designed to rival the Lucid Air, Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan, Porsche Taycan, and Tesla Model S. Its pricing is similar, but it offers excellent advanced technology, including BMW's Level 2 autonomous driving system (called Highway Assistant), which allows semi-autonomous operation on pre-mapped highways at speeds of up to 85 mph. The i7 is part of BMW's 7 Series lineup (reviewed separately). You can still get a variety of gasoline-powered versions of the 7 Series, but the i7 is the German automaker's first all-electric sedan. $$$
