A checkered chunky yarn crochet pumpkin pattern works up quickly with a unique look! Using an easy variation of the double crochet stitch, the Linked Double Crochet Stitch grows quickly while still eliminating the gaps between the stitches - no filling showing through on this one! I have a unique way to begin working in the round for this stitch as well.  You are essentially working a spiral patchwork stitch! You will be working in the round without a join or seam.  A much nicer finished appearance. I love the checkered look of my pumpkin - just a little bit different than plaid and so much easier to keep track of your colors!  You won't have a ton of ends to weave in, either!
