TopshelfTom's video: Billy Vera And The Veratones - You Can t Have Everything

@Billy Vera And The Veratones - You Can't Have Everything
Billy Vera was born on May 28, 1944 in Riverside, California. His music career began while in his teens, and in 1962 his group Billy Vera And The Contrasts cut a version of the Etta James and Harvey Fuqua tune, My Heart Cries, for Laurie Records' Rust subsidiary as his debut release. His next great successes came writing songs, which included a hit for Ricky Nelson called Mean Old World. A few years later, in 1967, he was paired with Judy Clay, and they began recording a string of hits for Atlantic Records, but before he found his greatest successes, we find Billy here with his second ever release, on the small Flavor record label, and a great tune I stole from either Soxx, Tim or Dave The Rave. I think I heard Soxx play it first, but I know all three have played it on their shows. If you dig this tune, you should check out the many great shows we have every night at www.topshelfoldies.org! Enjoy.
