Join our visit to the Slave Fortresses / Castles on the Gold Coast of Ghana where unfortunate slaves were sent from Africa to Americas, especially the Caribbean. First vi visited Elmina Castle erected by the Portuguese in 1482 - the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. Then we visited Cape Coast Castle - a former Swedish Castle. From both Castles thousands of slaves were held in prisons having terrible conditions before shipped to America.
