Tamiraparani River Pushkaram Celebration,Tirunelveli District 2018.Tamiraparani is a parennial river which flows throughout the year.Tamiraparani River originates from poonkulam cave region in the Pothigai Hills. From there it flows down at Baanatheertham falls.Then it crossed two dams of Upper and Lower Dam and flows down at Kalyaan Theertham.Then it flows down via agasthiyar Falls. From there it touches plain land at Pabanasam,which is observed as holy ghat. From there it passes via so many bathing ghats od Tirunelveli district and confluence at Punnakayal area adjoining Bay of Bengal. Another importance is on the river path regions Navakailaya Shrines (Lord Siva) and Nava Thirupathi shrines (Lord Vishnu) are located. Mahamaham Festival is celebrated at Kumbakonam once in12 years.But this Tamiraparani River Pushkaram Festival is celebrated once in 144 years.,that is 12x12 years.It is a strong faith that who take a holybath during the festival days from 11.10.18 to23.10.2018 they will get prosperous in their life.
