ToysTrainsThings's video: Trackmaster Tomy Thomas - Hotrod Version vs the Rest - Custom Made

Here is a quick video of the 'Hotrod Tomas' (thanks ucwepn for the name) that appears in the background of another video. I made this custom Trackmaster Tomy Thomas a while back and my son has loved playing with it every since. I recently rebuilt him and re-did the detail work. It goes substantially faster than a regular Thomas and a little bit quicker than Plarail 2 speed trains. He is not the quickest train we have and he is not as quick as the 9 volt modded trains but he goes well and actually stays on the rails (most of the time). On the outside you can see what I have done but on the inside it's not as obvious. Hotrod Thomas runs a 3.7v 18650 Li-ion rechargable battery that lasts for quite a while before needing a recharge. It was on it's last legs for this video but still provides enough power to beat the 2 speed trains. The battery area and body have been adjusted a bit to accomodate the slightly larger 18650 battery. This train was in fairly rough condition until a visit to the steam works brought him back to life. The stickers were torn or missing and the chassis had bits broken from it. I removed all the stickers and details and applied my own to it. The gearbox was swapped for a newer one in the hope it will last longer with the increased power. Hotrod Thomas is a good fun engine to have in our collection and he is my sons favorite engine (at the moment :-) ) I have more of these custom trains in the pipelines so subscribe to my channel to see them as I post them.
