Tractor Mike's video: Is This New Holland Loader Leak Down Covered Under Warranty

@Is This New Holland Loader Leak Down Covered Under Warranty?
Had a question about front end loader hydraulic leak down. As Steve is using his loader, the bucket tends to tilt down slowly, about a foot every 15 minutes. So, he has to constantly bump the joystick to keep from dumping the load and he wondered what's going on and if it would be covered under warranty? His tractor is a 2018 New Holland Boomer but it could be a Deere, Kubota, Kioti, Massey, Mahindra, etc. I suspect they all use the same loader components. What's going on with Steve's tractor is he has an internal hydraulic oil leak. Oil is cycling back through the system allowing the bucket to gradually tilt on it's own while he's using it. This could be in a cylinder, but it's more than likely in the joystick valve. Most of those, at least on small tractors, can't be rebuilt, they have to be replaced when they fail. That gives me a chance to talk about warranty. Most of the time, when you're buying the tractor, the salesperson doesn't go into deep detail about the warranty terms. The tractor may have a three-to seven-year warranty, but generally, the long period only covers the powertrain. It does not cover the other items on a tractor outside of the engine and transmission, which will be covered for a much shorter duration, usually two years. Complicating matters, most front end loaders only have a one-year warranty. These details are seldom covered in the sales process, but are in the fine print on the warranty activation document that you sign when buying the tractor. So, if Steve's problem is a hydraulic cylinder, it probably won't be covered under warranty, if it is a joystick valve, it still could be covered depending on when the tractor was purchased in 2018. Best thing is to get the tractor in to the dealership and have them determine exactly where the problem is. They can disconnect the joystick and if the loader bucket doesn't move, the problem is in the joystick. If it does move, it's a hydraulic cylinder issue. The service manager at the dealership is usually the person administering warranty and I always recommend taking those guys donuts once a year to stay on their good side. Hopefully, Steve can get the tractor in, it's still under warranty, the repair is covered and the service guys get their donuts. Things seldom go that easy. LINKS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT...
