Tractor Mike's video: What is My Used Tractor Worth

@What is My Used Tractor Worth?
Got a couple of viewers who wanted to know what their used tractors are worth. Both are wanting to end their days of tractor ownership. As I post this video we're in a very unique situation, small tractor demand is as high as I've ever seen it, supplies are way lower than they should be. It's a great time to be selling and a horrible time for shopping. Kathy has a Kubota BX1880 with a hard shell aftermarket cab with heat, Danny has a 2019 Kubota L3301 with loader and third function valve, front wheel assist, and hydro. Both are wanting to know a fair price for them. How do you determine that? In normal times I would advise each viewer to go to a couple of websites to get an idea of used equipment values. I cover that in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gadFWvue7w. But these aren't normal times. I recommend that both of them call their local Kubota dealerships and price out a comparably-equipped new model to what they now own. Then I would price the L3301 at 10% below that number and the BX1880 at 20% below that number, plus 1/2 the cost of the add-on cab. That's way, WAY higher than they'd normally bring. With the tight supplies right now and escalating new equipment prices, both Danny and Kathy are in the driver's seat. The L3301 at 33 hp is a highly desirable size and with FWA, hydro and a loader, it's equipped the way a lot of people want. It will bring a premium in today's market. The BX1880 is a sub-compact, and demand for them is not quite as strong as it is for tractors over 30 hp. I see more of that size on dealer's lots right now, so I'm getting the feeling that supplies aren't as tight on sub-compacts as it is on the larger tractors. I would still price it 20% below the new tractors, still a premium over what is normal. Valuing the hard cab with heat is tough. Where I live, a cab tractor without air conditioning is not worth any more than an open cab tractor. In fact, I'd remove the cab to help sell the tractor and then just give it to the customer when delivering the tractor. North of here, where it gets colder, that cab adds value to the tractor. A good rule of thumb is that a used part or kit will bring half of new. So, whatever the price was when the cab was sold, figure half of that and add it into the price. If I'm too high on my valuations, both Kathy and Danny can always come down on their prices. We're just a few weeks away from the prime selling season, so there's plenty of time to find a buyer. A lot of how much they'll bring depends on the condition of the tractor as well. But, as hot as the tractor market is now, it's a good time to sell and get all you can out of your tractor. This market won't last forever. LINKS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT...
