In this video, I discuss the Missouri Senate's bill to make gold and silver legal tender, in the context of 21st century money and the previous failure of the gold standard. Physical gold is a technologically backwards solution to the problem of money. Like gold, Bitcoin is a bearer asset with no counter-party risk. Unlike gold, Bitcoin is easy to move around, store, verify, divide, and hide. The price of gold has been stagnant for over a decade, as Bitcoin continues to steal market share from it. The younger generations have zero interest in shiny yellow rocks, but they are instinctively drawn to crypto and other tokens. My goal is to make sure that they understand the differences between "crypto" (fool's gold) and Bitcoin (the real thing). Gold is a useful industrial commodity, but it will fall 90% when it loses its monetary premium. Central banks like to hodl gold, but this is more for legacy reasons. Their long-term holdings of US Treasuries should demonstrate that following their investments is not a path to good returns. If you like and understand gold, you should be doing a serious deep dive into Bitcoin, which is essentially digital gold.
