@Railfanning Buena Park - 5/27/20
In continuation of my series of videos along the BNSF San Bernardino sub, I headed out to Buena Park on a Wednesday Afternoon. I was originally not expecting any freights, but less than 5 minutes after I arrive, I see a freight in the distance! As for railfanning here, this station usually gets good action, with about 50 BNSF freights, 30 Amtraks, and 30 Metrolink trains daily (Not the reduced schedule). However, since this station is on the same line as Fullerton, not as many railfans go to Buena Park. I ended up seeing 13 trains in about 2 hours! not bad for a wednesday afternoon!
Train 1: BNSF Q-ATGLAC6-27 w/ C44-9W , SD70ACe , ES44DC (DPU), C44-9W (DPU), and ES44C4 (DPU). This train sure was flying! In fact, the wind from the train almost blew my tripod away! (I had to hold in place for the duration of this train).
Train 2: BNSF Q-LACALT6-27 w/ ES44C4 , ES44DC , ES44C4 , ES44C4 , and ES44C4 .
Train 3: Metrolink 684 w/ cabcar and F125 . This train was running 30 minutes behind due to an "Operational Issue". Note that the cabcar was leading, even though this is an outbound train.
Train 4: Amtrak 580 w/ SC-44 and cabcar . Because of the blind curve, I wasn't expecting this train at all!
Train 5: BNSF R-CAL008 w/ GP60M and GP60M . My first time seeing a caboose! also a pretty rare catch as locals don't go on the SB sub too often.
Train 6: Metrolink 602 w/ F125 and cabcar .
Train 7: Amtrak 579 w/ cabcar and SC-44 . This train was so fast, it blew my hat off!
Train 8: Metrolink 704 w/ F125 and cabcar . decided to experiment with a new angle and filmed from the overpass. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Train 9: Metrolink 686 w/ MP36PH-3C and cabcar . Nice engineer on !
Train 10: BNSF H-BARLAC-27 w/ ES44DC , ES44C4 , ES44C4 , and ES44AC . This is my first BNSF manifest! Nice engineer on !
Train 11: Metrolink 706 w/ F125 and cabcar . Nice engineer on !
Train 12: Metrolink 609 w/ cabcar and MP36PH-3C .
Train 13: Metrolink 604 w/ F125 and cabcar . Although the evening action was just starting, I decided to leave. I ended up going to Portillo's Hot Dogs for dinner, so that was pretty cool for me as an Illinoisan. All in all, Buena Park is a very nice place to railfan, minus the blind curve to the north.
