No matter how much planning you do, solo travel will always throw you a curveball. I always follow the “hope for the best but plan for the worst” mindset. If handled correctly (and not it's too serious), you will learn from these experiences and become a better solo traveler (or dare I say, person) as a result. First things first - backup your documents! Make a copy of all your important travel information (visa, passport, birth certificate, insurance, and flight information) and give it someone you trust back home. Also, make another copy to keep with you and one more copy on your phone and/or laptop while traveling.
