@SIEM REAP WEDDING RECEPTION - KRISTIN AND SOKPHON - THE FUN PART - 4K
KHMER WEDDINGS are a multiple day celebration. In the last in a series of four vlogs - SIEM REAP WEDDING RECEPTION - KRISTIN AND SOKPHON - NOW FOR THE FUN PART we see the culmination in the jaw dropping process that is a Khmer Wedding. This was the fun part. Please join in the celebrations...in this video there is even a part where you can participate in the celebrations. In previous vlogs - Khmer Wedding - Day 1 - Kristin and Sokphon certainly had lots of ceremonies and Khmer traditions such as the Hair Cutting ceremony. and the Monk's Blessing. In Khmer Wedding - Day 2 - Kristin and Sokphon of course has more of that with the Groom's Processional Parade, Honouring the Parents and the Knot - Tying Ceremony not to omit the dramatic moment when Kristin and Sokphon are officially married. A typical Cambodian wedding is comprised of different ceremonies, lots of music, a dinner banquet, gifts, and, of course, people! Guests are encouraged to not only spectate but also become involved in each ceremony Our “ASIA 2020 TRAVEL BUCKET LIST” (see the PREVIEW in the link at the end of this vlog) was composed of renowned Asia world destinations that we had not visited. That included Beijing, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. However this BUCKET LIST would have never happened if it had not been for a wedding of Barbara’s niece in Siem Reap, Cambodia in the middle of November 2019. By the way, excellent timing in view of recent ultra-adverse world events. No this was not a destination wedding in Siem Reap, Cambodia, famous for its proximity to incredible archeological sites such as Angkor Wat. Instead the bride and groom reside in Siem Reap and had a wedding in their own city – how amazing it that. The groom Sokphon has been a long time resident of Siem Reap and is the owner of The Pool Party Hostel while the bride, Kristine, has been working in various parts of South-East Asia in the travel industry and aid organizations. The previous vlog chronicled the pre-wedding dinner party at the Red Piano Restaurant on Sok Son Road Siem Reap. Now DAY ONE of the KHMER WEDDING had arrived and it is time to share the wonderful events of that day. A traditional wedding in Cambodia is like no other. To a foreigner it is is a long, complicated and elaborate affair that lasts for days, requiring many multiple ceremonies with various kinds of outfits and costumes. These ceremonies often relate to ancient mythical Khmer stories. According to - Traditional Cambodian Wedding Ceremonies - A typical Cambodian wedding is comprised of different ceremonies, lots of music, a dinner banquet, gifts, and, of course, people! Guests are encouraged to not only spectate but also become involved in each ceremony, since an emcee (MC) or host guides everyone along with commentary and instructions (and usually some comedy and teasing too). Music and songs performed on traditional instruments and gongs signal the arrival of the couple to each part of the wedding. There are usually silver or gold trays, along with candles, flowers, fresh fruit, and other decorations that are placed on the floor or a table in front of the bride and groom. The family and wedding guests usually sit on the floor around the couple, finding whatever space they can (since usually these ceremonies are held at the bride's family residence and space is limited). Highlights include: on Day One The Hair Cutting Ceremony; The Monks Blessing
