One of my poems about self image and beauty, I hope you like. The pressure to be "beautiful" is felt by everyone. Just be you. Look at my face. I will conceal the restless nights that I spent in complete darkness, I must highlight to disguise what’s behind all this near madness. I will blend in with the rest that just paint away their fears I will make sure to erase every track of every tear. Look at my face. I must cover it with paste to make smooth my whole complexion I must contour to add grace, to refine my whole reflection. I must be precise and tasteful to have features near perfection, I must cover up in paste, to have half of your attention. Look at my face. I must camouflage my eyes to appear a happy mood. All I wanted was your love, I wanted to be understood. I go smoky to add depth, and I use the tones of ashes, But what good is that if you…you never look past my lashes! Look at my face. I will outline every brow to look refreshed and surprised, I will add a touch of blush so my frown could be disguised. You don’t care about my words, you just care about my mouth You don’t care about the color, as long as it travels South. Look at my face. And look straight into my eyes The ones that I have to cover, so no one knows that I cry. Look at every single line, look at every single pore, Count your blessings, past tonight, I will cry for you no more.
