Trevor Nygaard's video: Traditions are traditions Sailboat hitchhiker and crew connection success story on the White Pearl

I have been a member of a Facebook group called Sailboat Hitchhiker and Crew connection for a few years but never had the opportunity to get involved. I mostly checked the group frequently to see if there was anyone in my area that wanted to go for a sail, or learn how to sail or even pick up an extra hand for passages. Nothing ever really seemed to fit or seemed like a good idea until I saw a post from a younger couple that were in the Virgin Islands looking to get out on a boat. I took the leap and replied that I was in the area for a few more weeks prior to heading south for the hurricane season and after talking to them online and then on the phone a few times I invited them out to the White Pearl for a 3 day trip. Anthony and Victoria were in St. John for a wedding and had a few more days to kill prior to heading back to Florida. I still had not explored the north coast of St. Thomas so this seemed like it would be a great adventure for all of us. They had minimal sailing experience but did understand the basics, so there was also an element of teaching them some of the more advanced aspects of sailing. I was blown away at how well they handled the boat and my instructions were not even really needed that much. They came well prepared with a ton of food and amazing attitudes and we all had an absolute blast for the entire trip. I made new life friends and look forward to the day they will return for some more sailing. It was really refreshing that we were all able to step out of our comfort zones and take a random chance with strangers and to be able to connect so well. They were both very excited about all my made up traditions on the Pearl, so the theme of the trip quickly turned into forming new ones and we were able to add many new ones for future guests.
