Hello friends and welcome to another sailing adventure with The Friendly Pirates aboard the White Pearl! With the hurricane season all but wrapped up it was time to say goodbye to friends, depart Luperon and start transiting the north coast of the Dominican Republic. This leg of the journey was unique and difficult because it has to all be done at night given the dangerous conditions during the day. There is also very little room for error geographically because the north coast is covered with razor sharp rock and cliffs, battered by waves all day. Not a place you want to find yourself with boat problems! Much to my surprise, leaving the country proved to be more difficult than arriving, and after another frustrating experience with a hornswaggling Dominican Navy I graduated in my Pirate legacy and became a Swashbuckler on the run!
