Episode 20 of the adventure sailing in the Caribbean! The time had finally come to start making progress to my hurricane hole sanctuary in the Dominican Republic, which lay 400 miles to the southeast. The passages ahead were all open ocean sailing for days at a time between islands, so I invited my dad down to the Georgetown to join me for another leg of the adventure. I refer to him now as "Silver Viking" which is a proper sounding pirate name, perfect for crewing aboard White Pearl! The conditions were fantastic for the duration of the voyage, and we really lucked out on the timing – this can often be quite difficult to pull off given how finicky mother nature is. We had a bit of a tight schedule for the amount of distance we needed to cover, so there was no time to go ashore and explore each island, however it was a fair trade-off for getting to spend a full week with my pops out sailing in the open ocean!
