@Yasuke - The Legendary Black Samurai
Based on a true story: Yasuke was taken to Japan as a bodyguard for Jesuit missionaries. He had previously been sold as a slave or mercenary and was able to speak multiple languages. Upon arriving on the shores of Japan many people were shocked by his dark skin and thought he was a demon. Japan had no knowledge of Africa at this time. Yasuke's arrival beought such an uproar that Oda Nobunaga summoned him into the palace. Oda's servants began bathing Yasuke as everyone believed him to be a human covered in dirt. After 8 attempts the missionaries communicated to the emperor that there was an entire continent of humans just like him. All of them with skin as solid as the earth.
Yasuke went on to become Oda's right hand bodyguard, making him the closest man to the emperor. A statue of Yasuke exists in Japan today and after the bombings of WWII a children's book named Kurosuke (BLACKsuke) was used to inspire the people of Japan to love and pride their country as much as Yasuke.
