Steam returned once again to Kirkby Stephen East, with Modified OY1 'Super Peckett' No2084 'F.C.Tingey' top-n-tailing with Planet 0-4-0DM 'Elizabeth' on the Mk1 rake. Planet 0-4-0DM 'Elizabeth' arrived in February 2004 and is privately owned. In 1962 it was delivered new to Hartley Quarry which is less than a mile east of KSE and at that time was named 'Elizabeth' after the quarry owner's daughter. It's original engine was replaced soon after arrival at Hartley Quarry by a Leyland bus engine and the locomotive has had a very colourful history of service all over the UK. 2084 is privately owned and has been at KSE since 1999 following restoration at Carnforth. When it arrived at KSE it was in Peckett Green and in 2011 it was repainted into lined BR black by Phil Anderson from Stockton. the locomotive was named FC Tingey in memory of the ex-Barrow in Furness fireman Fred Tingey who helped restore it but sadly died before the locomotive steamed in preservation. It carries works number 2084 and is classified as '0Y1 Special', It has a boiler pressure of 200 psi and a tractive effort at 85% boiler pressure of 22,700lb. The loco could be said to be unique amongst industrial locos, as it carries a 3-chime LNER whistle and a Kylchap Exhaust.
