YOUR goal, if you are trying to BUILD muscle, is...... "To challenge the muscle." If you are trying to build muscle, you have to "challenge the muscle!" Most men I see are constantly chasing reps and progressive overload (keep going heavier). Yes, you may have done 3 sets of 8 reps but how much WORK actually went into the muscle? This is a complete paradigm shift for most people. Think about it, if you are deep into a set and you are really challenging the muscle with the tempo I have given you. Can you still keep the integrity of the reps? This is where you start to challenge the muscle. Be great.
