Twobirdsbreakingfree's video: Climbing Mt Tumjang Assam s Highest Peak Dima Hasao District Northeast India

This video chronicles our recent trek to the summit of Mt Tumjang, a newly discovered peak in Assam that is now believed to be the highest in the state. The trek begins from Purana Leikul village in Dima Hasao District, a 90-minute drive from the district capital of Haflong. It is a two-day affair that requires an overnight campout at the end of the first day of trekking in Tumjang village, a tiny settlement situated approximately at the midpoint between the start of the trek and and the summit. Many thanks to the Dima Hasao Adventure Association (DHAA) for organizing this maiden voyage to Assam's highest peak and for being the pioneers that blazed the original trail through the almost impenetrable jungle. We were the first batch of hikers (27 people) that made it to the summit on 21st December 2020. Dima Hasao is the homeland of the Dimasas, an ethnic tribal group of Assam.
