Ty Ty the Train Guy Productions's video: Texas State Railroad 30: Steam Returns Through the Piney Woods

On July 3, 2020, we decided to travel to East Texas to chase the Texas State Railroad. On 4th of July weekend, it was the first days of operation for the Texas State Railroad since the COVID-19 pandemic started. So when we heard the news that Texas State Railroad is reopening for the first since pandemic, we didn't waste anytime to plan our visit back over there. Even though the Texas State Railroad ran before the pandemic, this was their first time running steam for the 2020 season. This year’s steam season started off with the brand new “Hall of Giants” display outside of the Palestine shop. Part of the Hall of Giants were 3 steam locomotives on display, including Texas & Pacific 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler , Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 Texas type , and the debut of the newly cosmetically restored Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe 4-6-2 Pacific . But none of those steam engines are in operational condition, the only operational steam locomotive there was 2-8-2 Mikado . pulled the 50 mile roundtrip in this scenic tourist railroad through the piney woods of East Texas. We’ve been waiting to see an operational steam locomotive since December 2019 and we were finally about to do so here in July 2020, and it was well worth the wait!
