@"Why Is My Trauma Misunderstood?" 6 Facts We Fail To Recognize | Psychotherapy Crash Course
Feeling misunderstood is something that happens a lot to people who have experienced trauma. It's not easy to understand the impact of trauma, especially if the even that traumatized you doesn't seem to be something that would traumatize someone else. Because trauma is a complex phenomenon close friends, colleagues, and family members may misunderstand you and begin to say things that are hurtful, careless, and inconsiderate of you. It's important that we keep in mind that trauma can be anything you do not/did not have the coping skills to manage or cope with. It can be instant and unexpected. It almost never follows the same course as someone else's trauma. In this video, I discuss how trauma is misunderstood and the common myths that you may notice in your own relationships.
