Generational family curses or cycles is something that a lot of people question and wonder about but fear that if they ask about it (or talk about it) they will be seen as "unstable." Some people believe that there are family cycles that creates generations of challenges, barriers, experiences, deaths, etc. that keeps a family feeling cursed. A "family curse" is another word for family cycles or inter-generational trauma. It is a family experience that occurs in cycles that a family cannot just disrupt out of willpower. The family cannot distance themselves from the "curse" just because they want to live a different life. Some ethnic cultures such as the African American, Native American, and even the Asian culture believe that family "curses" follow family members through generations until a family member "breaks" the cycle. Breaking the family experience cycles is another entire video! There are no easy answers and many ethnic cultures have tried to find the keys to the lock but cannot find an easy fix to a complicated matter. ***In this video, I will start the conversation of family cycles of trauma. In part 2 of this video I will be discussing what "family curses" are and look like in different cultures. I will conclude, in part 3, by discussing ways to start the healing process.
