Here's a talk with Dr. Peter Daszak, a disease ecologist and the president of EcoHealth Alliance who will explain how the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak started and why these spillover events are increasing. For nearly two decades, EcoHealth Alliance has worked closely with the Malaysian Government to build capacity for zoonotic disease surveillance in Malaysia. The organization was part of the team who in 2005 identified bats as natural reservoirs of SARS-like coronaviruses.
