@Communicating Science to the public: Best Practises from Developing Countries
The recent pandemic, climate change phenomenon, and debate on new science and technologies demand public accountability and open discussion. Successful science communication can have an influence on politics, policy agendas, health and the environment which benefits everyone. Traditionally, new scientific knowledge is shared mostly through scientific papers, and presentations at conferences and grant applications, to an audience of researchers and technical experts. As a result, these precious discoveries are hidden behind the doors of laboratories and research institutions. It’s time to change this communication to be open, understandable, and accessible to the public. The right platforms and delivery methods must be adapted in communicating science to the public. Otherwise, the public could be misled with the overwhelming information. In this webinar, the panellist from three developing countries (Malaysia, Nepal & Myanmar) will be sharing their best practices and approaches taken to successfully communicating science to the public.
