UMN Health's video: The Brain Body Mind Lab at the University of Minnesota

@The Brain Body Mind Lab at the University of Minnesota
Dr. Ann Van de Winckel, PhD, PT Division of Physical Therapy, Division of Rehabilitation Science, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical School, University of Minnesota https://www.rehabmedicine.umn.edu/bio/physical-rehab-main/ann-van%20de%20winckel https://www.rehabmedicine.umn.edu/research/brain-body-mind-lab http://www.riabilitazioneneurocognitiva.it/ The primary goal of my research agenda is to understand the neural mechanisms of neuroplasticity and recovery after stroke through the use of fMRI, structural and functional connectivity, to determine its impact on clinical sensorimotor outcomes. Further, to translate these findings to therapeutic interventions aimed at sensorimotor recovery. Specifically, current interests are to define the importance of the somatosensory system, and in particular proprioception, cognitive higher-level multisensory processing and integration in stroke recovery through brain imaging, neurorehabilitation, and clinical assessments. Additionally, to investigate the interactions between the psychological factors and physical impairments (mind-brain-body interactions), and implement rehabilitation strategies which attend to these factors to increase recovery after brain injury.
