Carolina Alumni's video: Our Aging Brains Mental Health and Preparing for the Next Pandemic

@Our Aging Brains, Mental Health and Preparing for the Next Pandemic
As we age, how do our brains change and how can our cognitive function be impacted? Are there different types of dementia? Why are some people more affected than others? What can we do to support a healthy brain? Our mental health is influenced by our brain, genetics and external factors. Do depression, anxiety and other bio-behavioral issues change with age? Why did our mental health worsen during the COVID pandemic? Finally, why is preparing for the next pandemic so important, and how is Carolina leading the charge though its program called READDI (Rapidly Emerging Antiviral Drug Development Initiative?) A distinguished group of three UNC researchers will serve on this interactive, educational and lively panel: Gwenn Garden, MD, chair of Neurology, distinguished professor and co-director of Duke-UNC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Samantha Meltzer-Brody, MD, distinguished professor, chair of psychiatry and director of UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders James Rosen, chief executive officer, READDI program Moderator: Dr. Martha Peck ’73 (77 MS, ’00 MD), semiretired family medicine physician with UNC Physicians Network and former vice president of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, a private foundation dedicated to supporting medical research and science education Don't forget to subscribe to our channel and hit the notification bell to stay up-to-date on all of our latest videos.
