Before the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, abortion was illegal throughout most of the United States. Then in 1965, a group of women in Chicago decided to fight back. This week we'll look at the group known as Jane - a Chicago based organization that helped women obtain abortions in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We'll find out how the group got its start, how it grew into a larger organization, how it came to an end, and why Jane came along at the right time in American history.
