@Trump: Japan Wants to Drive 105 Units of US F-35 Demon Combat Jets
President of the United States (US) Donald Trump announced the intention of the Japanese government to buy 105 F-35 stealth fighter aircraft made by Lockheed Martin. The announcement was made when the American leader visited Tokyo. "Japan has just announced its intention to buy 105 of the latest F-35 stealth aircraft ... This purchase will give Japan the largest fleet of F-35s from any US ally," Trump said on Monday (5/27/2019). "The United States supports Japan's efforts to improve its defense capabilities, and in the past few months we have sent them a large number of military equipment," Trump added at a press conference, as quoted by The Straits Times. On March 29, the Japan Self Defense Forces Air Force (JASDF) announced that the first F-35A shipment - which is part of the 302th Tactical Combat Squadron service - had achieved the Initial Operational Ability (IOC) status, which allowed fighter jets to take part in simple mission.
