Washington said on Thursday one of its dronies had been shot down in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian land-to-air missiles. But Tehran denied the location of the incident occurred, saying the Global RQ-4 Hawk had violated Iranian airspace over the southern coastal province of Hormozgan. The incident marked the first direct attack Iran claimed on US assets amid an escalating crisis between the two countries. The US military Central Command, US CENTCOM, called it an unwarranted attack.
