@UVM End-of-Life Doula Program on the Importance of Companioning as a Doula
Recent UVM End-of-Life Doula Alumni Oceana Sawyer shares her experience of holding space and companioning for a client in her work as an End-of-Life Doula. End-of-Life Doulas complement the care provided by family members and friends, as well as medical, palliative, and hospice professionals, within the settings of hospitals, senior care facilities, and homes. The University of Vermont's fully-online End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate program helps prepare students to meet the growing demand for end-of-life support as people live longer and the course of the average dying process continues to become increasingly gradual and anticipated.
