Being a faithful Catholic and humble priest, Fr. Charles E. Coughlin NEVER hated anyone. In fact, in his writings and sermons he condemned hatred of any sort. He himself was an immigrant who courageously defended Christian morality, the rights of farmers and workers, and the welfare of the family. This is why Fr. Coughlin was so vastly popular among his radio listeners, many of which were either descendants of immigrants or immigrants themselves. He was a firm ANTI-Nazi, ANTI-Fascist, and ANTI-Communist. He condemned each and every one of these totalitarian ideologies. He was also ANTI-Exploitation of farmers and the working class by rapacious Capitalists, Wall Street financiers and Federal Reserve banksters, who are the ones behind the smear of his good name. Perhaps the best evidence that Fr. Coughlin never hated Jews is his book titled "Am I an Anti-Semite?" wherein he unequivocally condemns anti-Semitism and explains why a Catholic or a Christian cannot hate anyone. His corrupt detractors have falsely claimed that the Roman Catholic Church disapproved of Fr. Coughlin. Although some American Church leaders, bowing to strong political pressure from President Roosevelt and the powers behind the Federal Reserve Bank expressed criticism of Coughlin, the Holy See, through its Apostolic Delegation in Washington, D.C. supported Fr. Coughlin. In response to criticisms unjustly hurled against Fr. Coughlin by his anti-Catholic detractors, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani, Apostolic Delegate (the Vatican ambassador) to the United States from 1933 to 1959, is quoted as affirming: "What the Holy Father teaches, Father Coughlin preaches." This statement from Archbishop Cicognani is perhaps one of the best testimonies that the defamation of Fr. Coughlin is based on nothing but vicious lies and distortions. Coughlin was a good Catholic priest who defended the poor and the working class. This is why he has had his character so savagely assassinated and is so reviled. Had Coughlin defended the Bankers and the Financiers, you can be sure that he would have never been so defamed and abused. Because he criticized equally Nazism, Communism, Fascism and rapacious Capitalism practically no one stood up for him across the political spectrum.
