Uni-3d's video: Visual Effects and Animation Reel - 2019

@Visual Effects and Animation Reel - 2019
http://uni3d.com/ - A Visual Effects and Animation Demo Reel by Troy Whitmer. This is a compilation of recent work done. There is a heavy focus on fulldome work (planetarium style theaters) as the lead animator and chief technical support for two 8Kx8K stereo-3D 60FPS films; "To Space and Back" and "Asteroid: Mission Extreme". Mixed in are a few independent film elements, some effects tests and smaller projects. It closes with a brief breakdown of a Mental Ray based lighting and layering setup used in nearly all of the Asteroid film shots that allows for substantial control over qualities of all scene lights in post including individual coloring, intensity, highlight reworking and reflection control on a per-light basis. A rough outline of my responsibilities and contributions are listed along the bottom of the screen. I was part of a small team for the two fulldome films and was routinely responsible for a shot in its entirety. Starting from initial storyboard aid and shot blocking through model acquisition/creation & preparation, texture creation or refinement for 8K scrutiny, camera animation and stereography, lighting, materials/shading, animation, effects, rendering, technical support for software & hardware of the render farm, then for a final step creating the initial compositing/grading and element assembly before handing prepared After Effects comp assets to the editor and creative director. The bulk of this work was created using Maya, with 3DS Max and to a lesser extent Cinema 4D also playing notable part in the process. Numerous shots mixed Maya & Max render layers, with the Earth being an element with layers combined between the two tools. Most compositing work was done using Adobe After Effects, and a few projects used Foundry's Nuke software. -To Space and Back (intro and outro) is the property of Sky Skan Inc. and The Franklin Institute -Asteroid - Mission Extreme is the property of Sky Skan Inc. and National Geographic -The Selling (of Scarry Manor) is the property of Artist View Entertainment/Diani & Devine -Phase Me Up is the property of Bloom Animation -The music is "Gravitational Waves" by ccMixter user Airtone - http://beta.ccmixter.org/files/airtone/55021
