Unique Restorations's video: Bit and Brace Restoration Part 2 Complete with Electroplating

@Bit and Brace Restoration Part 2, Complete with Electroplating
I had hoped to get this video out to you a few weeks ago but its taken along to time to prepare each of these parts. I had chosen to Nickel plate the drill to give a nice finish and some rust protection but this meant a lot of sanding. Most of the parts where sanded from 120 grit to 1200 before polishing which I hoped would give the best finish. The Nickel Electrolyte was made using white vinegar, salt and two Nickel Anodes which were connected to and old power pack from a disused toy. After a few hours the liquid turns green indicating it was ready for use. I used an aerator to move the liquid about which helps prevent scale build up on the parts. All the parts were soaked in Acetone first to clean any grease off then dipped in Battery Acid to etch the surface. The process took about an 2 hours to complete. This is the first time I have ever tried plating of any kind and im happy with the results. If you enjoyed the video please consider subscribing so I can keep making these videos for you.
