@Building a DIY safari rack | Shell Topper

I had a customer request a shell topper/Yakima rack for his truck. We wanted it light weight with a capacity of around 500lbs. We attached to the sides of the shell in order to transfer as much weight down directly into the sides of the bed. I discussed the possibility of making an additional ' L ' shaped bracket for the inside of the shell that would transfer additional load. We decided to hold off for now and just stick with the large fender washers and plenty of bolts.
