@Gavaskar Reveals That MS Dhoni's WC Final SIX Is His All Time Favorite
Gavaskar Reveals That MS Dhoni's WC Final SIX Is His All Time Favorite Sunil Gavaskar says if he had 10 seconds before he went to his grave , he would watch Dhoni hitting the six to win the World Cup in 2011 Sunil Gavaskar feels that although MS Dhoni may have lost his enthusiasm for captaincy, he still had a few more years as a batsman-wicketkeeper in him.Everyone has been shocked by this decision made by dhoni. Comment about this. In a shock development, India skipper MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect. The announcement came an hour after he remained unbeaten for a 24-ball 39 to help India secure their first draw at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 17 years. The announcement means he will not be part of the fourth and final Test of the series against Australia starting 6 January. Virat Kohli, who lead the team in the first Test, will captain the side for the second time. Dhoni played 90 Tests, scoring 4876 runs at an average of 38.09, after making his debut against Sri Lanka in Chennai in 2005. The hard-hitting batsman-wicket-keeper from Jharkhand made his mark with a 148 in just his fifth ODI, against Pakistan in Vizag in 2005. He immediately established himself as a dependable lower order batsman and a safe wicket-keeper. India had always struggled to find a frontline wicket-keeper-batsman and Dhoni filled the void effortlessly. Such was the impression he left that when the seniors in the side opted out of the World Twenty20 in 2007, Dhoni was appointed skipper of a young team. India went on win the title and Dhoni’s status as a superstar was firmly established. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India were also ranked the No.1 Test side for 18 months from December 2009 and he also lead India to their second World Cup when he lifted the trophy in 2011 after playing a match-winning, unbeaten innings of 91 in the final against Sri Lanka. Dhoni’s fortunes in limited overs cricket continued to improve but he stuttered in Tests and was captain of the team that was whitewashed 0-4 in Australia and England. Dhoni’s biggest achievement as skipper was to build a cohesive unit despite the presence of several stalwarts, many years his senior, with a bunch of promising juniors.
